Netgear Nighthawk router’s ADSL settings can be done manually at http www routerlogin net admin from the Netgear Genie wizard or Smart Wizard. Here we will tell you about both. You need to have certain information on hand if you want to configure ADSL settings for your Netgear Nighthawk Router that is written below –
- The internet connection type – PPPoE or PPPoA.
- ISP provided router login credentials.
- LLC or VC based multiplexing method.
- The VCI and VPI values for your router.
You can configure ADSL settings for the Netgear Nighthawk router with the help of Netgear Genie. Follow the steps to know how to configure ADSL settings for the Netgear Nighthawk router with the help of Netgear Genie –
- First, set up the device physical connections like connecting the Ethernet cables with a modem, power cables, computer connection and others.
- When you are configuring the first time, open a web browser and you will be redirected to the NETGEAR genie Wizard. If you are not redirected you can manually enter the following addresses in the browser’s address bar to go to genie setup – http://192.168.0.1, routerlogin.net or www.routerlogin.com.
- Now do a login with the admin password and username at http www routerlogin net admin setup webpage.
- At the prompt, click No, I want to configure the internet connection myself to configure the internet settings manually.
- Click Next and you will arrive at the Netgear genie GUI.
- Click on the Internet under the Basic tab and select yes at the first question.
- Select ISP as PPPoE and then enter your login credentials given by the ISP.
- In Connection Mode options,
- The dial on Demand option will terminate or initiate a connection when the outbound traffic is detected or stays idle as per the timeout settings.
- Always on will start the connection when computer boots up and Manually connect options requires you to manually connect and disconnect the connection from the Router status screen.
- Click on Setup button under the advanced tab, and click on ADSL settings.
- Select the Multiplexing type from LLC or VC and set VPI and VCI values and click Apply to save the changes.
You can also configure the Nighthawk router with the smart wizard. Follow the below steps to configure ADSL settings for your Netgear Nighthawk router –
- With an Ethernet cable, connect your computer with a LAN port at the back of the router.
- Now, in a web browser, go to Netgear router login at http www routerlogin net admin webpage and login in with admin as username and password.
- After logging in, you will see the Netgear router GUI.
- Now, click on Basic Settings under the Setup section in the left menu.
- When it asks whether your internet connection requires a login, select No and continue.
- In the Encapsulation section, select your internet connection from PPPoE or PPPoA and type the login and password provided by the ISP.
- Now, select Get Dynamically from ISP in Internet IP address field. But if the ISP gave you a static IP, select Use Static IP and enter the IP information. But mostly, the first option gets the work done.
- Then, for the Domain Name Server (DNS) Address, select Get Automatically From ISP. This only works if your ISP didn’t provide you static DNS ad if they had, enter that one.
- Finally, click on the Apply button and the webpage will refresh.
- When web page refreshes, go to ADSL settings under the Setup section.
- Now, you need to select the Multiplexing method for your ISP, enter the VCI and VPI values and click Apply to save the settings.
- To check whether the router has been arranged appropriately, click Router Status under Maintenance.
- Search for IP address under web port, a legitimate public IP address there demonstrates that the arrangement is right and working. The web light on the router will turn green and the web will begin to work through the router.
